In August 2002, Ann became Associate Teacher of David Jones
and teaches the concepts of the Swedish/Italian School of Singing
as developed by David Jones in the UK at her London Voice Studio. She
mainly works with classical singers, but also jazz/pop singers both
professionals and amateurs.
How does a voice lesson work?
- We start with a series of exercises to warm up the voice to increase awareness of the use of the body as a musical sound-producing instrument.
- Posture and breathing are addressed.
- At any time questions you may have about the exercises can be asked.I explain how and why the exercises work for you.
- Then we continue with repertoire during which we apply the newly acquired vocal sensations.
All this is recorded so you can take the tape or minidisk home to continue
your daily practise without losing time in writing the exercises down.
Listening back to your lesson also allows you to develop your auditive
awareness. This increases your investment in your vocal development.
When sheet music is provided, I accompany on the piano, but you are welcome
to bring your own pre-recorded tapes or CD's.
Credits and Reviews
"I feel that my voice is the best it has ever
been. I think it is because of the work you and I have done together,
that my voice feels and sounds the way it does. I am able to go a lot
higher than I ever dreamed of and there is a clarity in the notes which
I love."
Belinda O'Hooley,
Finalist of Stars in their Eyes
"David, just a short email to say thank you for your articles, your wonderful technique and patient instruction. But above all else, thank you for introducing me to Ann. We are making excellent progress together and in such a short time!"
